[1] The manager of Deans Oil Shale Mine was proceeded against for having neglected to report and explosion of firedamp.

[2] The case against the manager of the Merryton Colliery was in connexion with a dispute with the checkweigher, whom he wished to remove. The manager dismissed all the workmen, who were on a day's notice, and in the notice stated he would only re-engage those who agreed not to re-appoint the checkweigher. The device was successful
