Rochsolloch - Extract from 1871 Truck Report

At these ironworks, where about 150 to 200 men are employed, with fortnightly pays and weekly advances, there was until February 1869 a store to which the men were expected to go. But since that time the old store has been continued as a private shop and the men may go or not as they please. Previously to this change, the storeman paid the proprietors of the works 6% on the lines or the goods supplied to the workmen. But this has now ceased, and the only profit received by the company is a rent of £15 for the shop premises.
